German | African American
I identify as a guy with a nice complexion, a holistically approach; professional and private. My Mom is German, and my Father is African American. They met in a U.S. Army base in the south of Germany. Unfortunately they never lived together after I was born, my Mom wasn't interested in raising me with my Dad.
The History curriculum in school needs to get complete overhaul, to add parts of colonisation by law. There should also be a lot more professional guided dialogs surrounding xenophobia. Children can be mean; I was called racial slurs occasionally in Kindergarten & Ground school. But it happened rarely. A lot more often I heard people say how good looking I am and how good looking POC are.
Fortunately for our generation it is more progressive to be in an interracial relationship. I remember being happy to see Heidi Klumm and Seal in a magazine together. I look at being mixed (also) in a programmatic way; I mean who isn't mixed? I found my Father via a DNA Service, if you ever had looked at your DNA ‘roots’, you realize that we are all mixed.
After searching almost thirty years for my Father, I found his Obituary-Announcement approximately one year after he passed. But I found out that my Father has seven other kids, so I have many brothers and sisters, and extended family. I visited many of them in the States. They welcomed me like I always had been a part of the family.
When I was a kid I wanted to be Michael Knight, and Eddie Murphy when I got older. But if I had the opportunity to be reborn I would return as me myself and I. I feel glad and grateful for the way I am.
Through the pandemic I have been focusing on a range of mental health and body awareness exercises.
